Trái l¡i, n¿u không có cha t¡o thành cing nh° lao tâm, lao lñc, nhÍc trí lo l¯ng cho con të tinh th§n ¿n v­t ch¥t à có sñ sÑng và còn ti¿p tay vÛi m¹ d¡y d× con të t¥m bé cho ¿n khi khôn lÛn, thì không có con ngày hôm nay. Công ¡n cça cha m¹ Ñi vÛi các con th­t to lÛn nh° trÝi cao, biÃn rÙng, nào là mÛm c¡m cho n tëng bía, nào là sn sóc cho con tëng gi¥c ngç canh khuya, nh¥t là sñ lo l¯ng lúc mÍc rng, ¥m §u ph£i ch¡y lo tëng liÁu thuÑc hay giÍt sïa...à rÓi, khi con khôn lÛn, viÇc lo toan ó l¡i càng chÓng ch¥t nhiÁu h¡n nïa và mong sao con sau này s½ nên danh nên ph­n, hïu dång vÛi hÍ hàng, làng n°Ûc. Ñi vÛi cha m¹, chúng ta ph£i th°¡ng và kính, bßi vì : th°¡ng mà không kính,<i> thì không thà gÍi là hi¿u ¡o °ãc. Sách Lu­n Ngï, Vi Chính II, kà l¡i câu chuyÇn</i> nh° sau : MÙt hôm ng°Ýi hÍc trò Tí Du hÏi KhÕng Tí vÁ chï Hi¿u. KhÕng Tí áp : Có ng°Ýi nói Hi¿u là nuôi d°áng cha m¹, nh°ng n¿u nuôi mà không Kính, thì có<i> khác gì nuôi súc v­t, l¥y gì<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  </span>à phân biÇt. Nh° v­y, nuôi d°áng cha m¹ ph£i cung kính, d§u n c¡m h©m, uÑng n°Ûc lã, nh°ng cha m¹ v«n vui lòng. ViÇc hi¿u ¡o téc ph£i có LÅ Ngh)a. LÅ là theo cái Lý ph£i. Ngh)a la theo cái éc ph£i. Nói rõ h¡n, viÇc kính hi¿u cha m¹ không có ngh)a là lúc nào cha m¹ làm iÁu sai trái, ng°Ýi con cing ph£i nghe theo.
